Lucy specialises in popular history books for adults and children and won the 2002 Blue Peter prize for non-fiction with her first book, a biographical study of the computer wizard, Ada Lovelace. Her adult work also includes Tourists: how the British went abroad to find themselves, Spit and Polish: old-fashioned ways to banish dirt, dust and decay and Henry Smith: his life & legacy.
