Kiftsgate Court Gardens in Gloucestershire have been gardened by three generations of women gardeners. The gardens were first laid out in the 1920s by Heather Muir, who turned a bare and challenging hill-top site into one of Britain’s loveliest gardens. In turn, her daughter, Diany Binny, and granddaughter, Anne Chambers, have put their own mark on Heather’s creation, striking a fine balance between continuity and evolution.
Anne Chambers will be in conversation with Vanessa Berridge, author of a prize-winning history of the garden published to mark its centenary in 2019. Their discussion of Kiftsgate’s creation and Anne’s major contribution to the gardens’ development will include an illustrated tour of the planting through the seasons.
